Participation Guide

The participation process for TUA Astro Hackathon has an accessible and step-by-step structure for all participants.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Students

Students of all ages and education levels.

Academics

Research assistants, academics, and anyone academically interested in space.

Start-ups

All entrepreneurs in Space Technologies, satellite systems, Astrophysics and Astronomy, Space Research fields.

Space Technology Enthusiasts

Anyone interested in space technologies.

Previous hackathon experience is not required. Astrohackathon is a great event to experience your first hackathon.

Team Structure

Teams consist of minimum 2, maximum 5 people.

Participants first apply individually, then can form a team or join an existing team.

Team finding support is provided before and during the event for participants who cannot form a team.

Each participant can only be in one team.

COMPETITION TOPICS

Projects must be developed under one of the following main topics:

Space Technologies

Next-generation rockets, spacecraft designs, and innovative space travel solutions.

Satellite Systems

New approaches for communication, observation, and research satellites.

Space Research

Astrobiology, planetary sciences, and space mining.

Astrophysics

Theoretical studies and observations to unravel the secrets of the universe.

Problems are announced one week before the event via the official website and social media channels.

STEPS

Teams register for their local events through the Astrohackathon website and preliminary selections are made

Problems are announced one week before the event via the Astrohackathon website and official social media accounts

One week period for project selection, research, and preparation

Gathering at the event venue, teams settling on-site, and official start of the event with the opening speech

Mentors supporting teams on-site in areas they need

Projects being properly uploaded to the system, local juries determining local champions

Local champions being evaluated by TUA at their headquarters in the Turkey finals and announcement of Turkey champions

Project and Presentation Rules

Projects must be submitted within the specified date and time range.

Presentation time is limited to 5 minutes.

Presentation language can be Turkish or English.

Code repository must be open source (GitHub / GitLab) or made accessible.

Uploading the presentation file to the system is mandatory.

Project Ownership

All rights to developed projects belong to the teams. Projects can be shared as open source or moved to the entrepreneurship process.
