TUA Astro Hackathon Local Leaders organize TUA Astro Hackathon Local events. As leaders of local space and science communities in their own cities, they bring together innovative and solution-oriented minds to solve real problems about Earth and space! Local Leaders are responsible for participant recruitment, event organization and coordination. Coordinating local sponsors, speakers and community collaboration is also the duty of Local Leaders. The TUA Astro Hackathon Organization Team will guide Local Leaders throughout the hackathon preparation process and provide the information and support they need.
Be part of the TUA Astro Hackathon National Community and support our space vision by taking part in the organization of Turkey's largest space-themed hackathon.
As a Local Leader, you will be a champion for bringing together space and science enthusiasts in your city and enabling them to work together in this hackathon.
Immerse yourself in the various disciplines covered by TUA Astro Hackathon and become a leader in the space, technology, innovation and creativity communities in your city.
Local Leaders create a positive impact for Hackathon Participants and are also responsible for working with Local Judges to determine the projects that will advance to national evaluation.
Local Leaders are selected individually and only one Local Leader is selected for a region. Once selected, Local Leaders must attend TUA Astro Hackathon online trainings that provide them with the right environment to acquire new skills, build connections and design their own events.
STEP 1: FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION FORM
Fill out the application form for the region where you want to organize the TUA Astro Hackathon Local Event. Only one application per person will be valid. You cannot apply for multiple cities.
STEP 2: EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS
The TUA Astro Hackathon Organization Team carefully evaluates all applications that meet the criteria.
STEP 3: SENDING ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION NOTIFICATIONS
The TUA Astro Hackathon Organization Team provides feedback to all applicants to inform them whether their applications have been approved.
STEP 4: STARTING LOCAL EVENT PLANNING
Once you receive the approval notification, you can start the hackathon planning process. We recommend starting by reaching out to potential supporters and getting them to join your support team, then thinking about the logistics of your local event.
Do not use city abbreviations or nicknames. Your responses will be used in all future communications.
Only one Local Leader application will be accepted from each city for this year's TUA Astro Hackathon Competition. Please apply for a single city by selecting the city where you want to organize the event. City names in your applications must be written in full without abbreviations or nicknames.
We encourage you to encourage potential organizers in other cities to apply as well. We value collaboration and mutual support among Local Leaders and look forward to all applications.
Each Local Leader is responsible for funding their own Local Event, including outreach efforts to potential local partners and sponsors, called "Local Collaborators," to provide support. Such support can come in the form of: funding, venue, food, t-shirts or other gifts, prizes, technology needs, marketing support or other logistical support. Local Collaborators should be included and strongly encouraged as needed. Examples include: software and technology companies, telecommunications companies, science organizations, non-profit organizations, NGOs, government offices and universities. Once Local Leaders receive official approval to organize their Local Events, they can begin outreach efforts to Local Collaborators to start coordination.
During the week following the TUA Astro Hackathon Competition, Local Leaders are responsible for conducting the first round of evaluation for their Local Events, called Local Evaluation. Local Evaluation must take place after the hackathon officially ends. This responsibility includes recruiting Local Judges and experts from your community to assist with Local Evaluation and determine which teams advance to Global Evaluation. Exact dates and evaluation criteria will be shared closer to the event.
